The Bible

We carry in the bible because it is the book from which God speaks. We encounter God in the bible. It is a storybook of our family history.

When you hold the bible, use both of your hands. You can hold it up in the air above your head or out in front of you. If it is too heavy, clutch it to your body with both hands.

When you carry the bible, you will be after the cross and the choir. When you get to the font, pause and bow. Then walk to the left of the font and up to the pulpit. Set the bible down on the pulpit carefully so that it does not make any sound. Remember, there is usually a piece of paper on the pulpit with a prayer. You do not want to set down the bible so hard that it blows the paper off. Also, make sure that it is ready to be open and read. We will not want the first reader to open a book that is upside down! Once you have placed the bible carefully, you may take your seat. Use the aisle closest to the choir.
