Stewardship Campaign for 2006

The theme for this year’s stewardship campaign, Fullness of Life, or Abundant Life, is taken directly from John 10:10b —

I came that they may have life in fullness.

In John 10, Jesus talks about being the Good Shepherd and that he “came that they may have life in fullness.”  He goes on to say later in the same chapter, “My sheep hear my voice.  I know them, and they follow me.”

If we know Jesus, and are to follow his example, should we not sacrifice and lay down what we have to help others?   Should we not give of our plenty, so others may have a fuller life?

How ready we are to be generous and to share the gifts and treasures we have in this life helps to build a good foundation for a more Christ-like life.  We are on this earth for such a very short time and we all strive to make a positive difference in the lives, and world, around us.   Collectively through the church we can multiply what we give.

As our Stewardship campaign evolves in October and early November, you will receive more information about the mission and ministry of the church, both here at WPPC and in the larger church, through a variety of ways:

·        Letters (You should already have received the first letter.)

·        Newsletter articles (Like this one.)

·        Posters

·        Personal “Moments of Sharing” during Worship

·        Stewardship packet (including summary budget information and pledge card)

·        Question and Answer session (Oct. 30 after the 11:00 service)

We would ask families with children to actively involve them in the discussions about what Christian stewardship means, and how that influences how we share what we have been given to serve others.   Help them to understand the financial commitment your family plans to make to the work of Christ through the church and why.

Your role in, and commitment to, this year’s campaign is critical.  As always, our planning for next year must be based on the pledges we receive during this campaign.  We challenge you to prayerfully consider how you, and your family, can give as generously as you can to ministry and mission through West Plano Presbyterian Church, so all may have life, and have it abundantly.

Commitment Sunday will be November 13.  If possible, bring your pledge cards to church that Sunday; or you may mail or present them with the offering prior to that date.
