Gifts, Endowments, and Memorials Ministry (GEMM)
The Gifts, Endowments, and Memorials Ministry (GEMM) was established in 2003 with five objectives in mind:
- To offer an extra dimension of stewardship to the congregation by actively
encouraging and inviting gifts to the church through education of the congregation
and support of prospective donors.
- To establish a management system which conserves and increases the assets
contributed in accordance with the wishes of the donors and the Session.
- To provide guidance for the use to which the principal and/or income of
special or deferred gifts will be applied and to make decisions regarding
the application of such funds.
- To monitor the administration of outright and deferred gifts of assets
through the Texas Presbyterian Foundation so as to fully carry out the intent of the donor.
- To protect the mission of the church by reviewing and analyzing the subject matter
of any intended gift, and, if necessary, to decline the acceptance of any gift,
deemed as not being in the best interest of West Plano Presbyterian Chruch.
Five members comprise the committee and serve staggered terms of five years.
At least one, but no more than two, can be active members of the Session.
The pastor and treasurer of the church are designated as ex officio members of GEMM.
Committee meetings are held quarterly or more often if necessary.
