Christian Formation & Nurture (CFN) welcomes all who would like to participate in a variety of
experiences and discussions which lead to personal and corporate spiritual growth.
When we return to two worship services in August, we will be offering Sunday school
at 9:40 a.m. for all ages from three-year-olds through adults.
On Sundays we also invite all youth from sixth-grade through high school to take
part in our weekly youth activities. These include playing games, swimming parties,
watching movies, scavenger hunts, studies, as well as mission activities. Our schedule
of meeting times is posted on the Youth News link in the WPPC website. We also encourage
"Children of God" of all ages to participate in formation experiences in worship via full
participation in the liturgy each Sunday. Our Children and Youth Liturgical Coordinators
welcome your interest in participating in liturgical processions and other roles.
Two major events take place in the summer. The first is our Vacation Bible School.
The theme for 2009 was “The Wonderful World of Mission.” The second summer highlight is our
Youth Mission trip. For 2009 we traveled to Penasco, New Mexico,
where we served the people of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church and the Picaris Pueblo area. We are in the
process of discerning God's call to a specific destination for summer 2010. Other opportunities
for our youth include participating in numerous connectional church experiences such as Synod of the
Sun Youth Workshop and Presbyterian Youth Triennium.
CFN also works with our Congregational Life and Care Committee to provide our Wednesday
Night Live evenings which run from September through May. At 6 pm we have dinner in the
fellowship hall. The cost is seven dollars for adults. At 6:30 we have an adult study class
which lasts for one hour. Our choir then rehearses from 7:30 - 9 pm.
Our committee meetings are generally the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 am. We invite
all who are interested to attend these meetings and assist us in this important ministry.
Please contact Laura Robinson or Lauren Fleming, Co-moderators of the CFN Committee or Betty
Weckerly, Director of Christian Formation, for more information regarding any of these offerings.

As pilgrims of the Christians faith, we are all discovering what it means to live out our baptismal identity. While we know this
involves dying to sin daily so that we can be raised to fresh newness of life, this path is not found pre-designed plans for
spiritual living. We must learn to discern our way forward by attending to the leading of the Holy Spirit. This discernment is
best done in the company of fellow pilgrims. THE JOURNEY takes its name from this reality of baptismal life. Each Sunday, we
gather to reflect upon something current that challenges the way we think and live as faithful servants to a world God loves.
The weekly reading (called FOOD FOR THE JOURNEY) is available on a link at our web site. Once we know you are coming, we can see
that a weekly copy is sent to your email address. We invite you to join us for our discussions. The coffee pot is always hot
and near at hand!

Agape and Latte
This is a young adult group that meets in "The Den" (classroom 2) Sunday morning at 9:40 am. Coffee is provided -- but you are
welcome to BYOB (bring your own brew ... coffee, that is). The discussion is facilitated by Ken George, based on scriptural
references. To borrow from Max Lucado, “Come thirsty” -- and share in this fellowship and faith exploration!
