Christian Nurture & Education Committee

Christian Education welcomes all who would like to participate in a variety of activities and programs. We offer Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. for all ages from three-year-olds through adults.

Sunday School students

At 5 p.m on Sundays we invite all youth from sixth-grade through high school to take part in our weekly youth activities. These include playing games, swimming parties, watching movies, Adopt a Highway, scavenger hunts, and our annual road rally. Some special events include New Year’s Eve Lock-ins, and our annual Super Bowl party.

Two major events take place in the summer. We have Vacation Bible School which runs from a Monday through a Friday. A highlight of our summer is the Youth Mission trip; this July we traveled to San Antonio to participate in the "Doors" program.

CE also oversees our Wednesday Family Nights which run from September through May. At 6 pm we have dinner in the fellowship hall. The cost is five dollars for adults and $12.50 per family. At 6:30 we have an adult study class which lasts for one hour.

Our committee meetings are generally the second Sunday of each month at 12:30. We invite all who are interested to attend these meetings and assist us in this important ministry.

The Journey

New Adult Class – “The Journey” (formerly named “Issues”)

The Journey Discussion

This class is led by David Batchelder and meets in classroom #3 at 9:40 am. We are serving up a new diet for all who choose to join us. Each Sunday we reflect from a faith perspective on something current in the church or the world at large. Informative, stimulating, interactive, and dialogical: these words describe the nature of this adult class.

Each week (by Thursday evening) a brief piece is posted on the WPPC web blog page, under "Issues Class/The Journey" which forms the core of our discussion for the coming Sunday. This piece may be drawn from any number of sources (recent news, book review, editorial, PCUSA news, etc.) A few questions are added as starters. Each person can visit this site to get a quick look at what we will engage. We hope you will consider joining us for The Journey.
