Mission Statement title

It is the mission of West Plano Presbyterian Church to be faithful and obedient to God by dedicating itself to fulfilling the Great Ends of the Church of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) found in its Book of Order, G-1.0200:

  • The proclamation of the gospel for the salvation of humankind
  • The shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God
  • The maintenance of divine worship
  • The preservation of the truth
  • The promotion of social righteousness
  • The exhibition of the Kingdom of Heaven to the world

West Plano Presbyterian Church pursues these Great Ends of the Church by:

Declaring God as the God of grace and love in Jesus Christ who saves people by creating a vital community of faith where individuals can know the love of God and who can proclaim it to one another and to the community in word and deed

Creating that vital community of faith where all God's children are welcomed regardless of age, race, gender, ethnic origin, marital or family status, sexual orientation, economic or physical condition, and where their spiritual needs can be met through a variety of ways

Worshiping God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through the regular proclamation of the gospel in Word and in Sacrament according to The Directory for Worship, The Book of Common Worship, and the supplementary Occasional Services of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.); and where members are invited to participate in the leadership of that worship on a regular basis

Holding at the center of life the truth of God in Jesus Christ and the integrity of the Church that follows Jesus Christ alone as Head of the Church

Seeking to establish justice and peace in the world through working to recognize injustices that must be corrected in order for legitimate peace to prevail, and to do so as individuals, as a congregation, and with other members of God's people throughout the community

Creating a community that demonstrates God's reign and will as God created human life to be lived and enjoyed by all people

Maintaining and expanding our program, facilities, and staff in order to continue to provide a setting that will meet the needs of the congregation and its mission, and be available for use by community groups whose goals are compatible with our own

To this mission and fulfilling it, West Plano Presbyterian Church dedicates its life and resources, both human and material, and invites all people to join us in this mission.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. World without end.
Amen and Amen.
