Lent Our Lenten seasonal approach is to beginning with a few simple wreaths draped with gray for Ash Wednesday. In addition, we prepared an "Alleluia banner" which was placed in a box on the first Sunday of Lent, reminding us that the we would not be using this word for the duration of Lent. For the Sundays of Lent, we add seasonal purple color to the wreaths. All banners are removed from the sanctuary and the usual palms in the chancel are replaced with urns filled with bare branches.
