Jeremiah's Plot

MISSION STATEMENT

The Community Garden will provide food for the hungry and encourage members of the community to participate in the fight against world hunger.

Garden Blessing

On 10-May-09, the West Plano Presbyterian Church's Community Garden was officially named "Jeremiah's Plot", in reference to Jeremiah 32:6-15 and was blessed in an outdoor liturgy in the garden. Watch the video of this event below:

Work Day

Thanks to all the gardeners who came out on 22-Aug-09 for our Work Day! A special thank you to Bill Calvert for bringing his tiller and tilling the food pantry plots. More tilling will be done on these when they're dryer and then we can begin planting fall crops.

See the "Pictures" link below for more pictures of the work day.

Moved to action
Thank you so much for the Jan./Feb. articles on the global food crisis and suggestions for congregational action. As a result of a study by our adult Journey Class, West Plano Presbyterian Church has begun preparation for a community garden.

We plan to have 20 community plots and two plots devoted to crops for our food pantry. All gardeners will give at least 10 percent of their crops to feed the hungry through organizations that have already agreed to accept produce from the garden.
